Synopsis:

The third chapter of the groundbreaking DARKEST HOUR event continues as the number of corrupted Rangers pouring through the Master Arch becomes overwhelming. But this time they’re taking captives! As Trini seeks answers from the only beings who may be able to provide them, a powerful Pink Ranger flexes her powers to help Kimberly… but will it be enough as Dark Specter’s infectious corruption spreads out of control across time and space?

Story — 5 out of 5: First off, ignore the synopsis above. None of that is here. In fact, I don’t think it would spoil anything to tell you that Kimberly does not appear in this issue at all. This is basically Billy reacting to the events of last issue, and the Drakkon Rangers special. That being said, it’s a chance to take a slight breather after all that has come so far. The pace here is slower, but we still get plenty of action. Melissa Flores continues her great character work, which is saying something considering how many characters are in this issue. You can really feel the desperation of the good guys due to the overwhelming odds against them.

Art — 5 out of 5: Simona Di Gianfelice is back, and, other than Kendall, her take on the Dino Charge characters is great! I mention that because of the preview. But her art continues to shine in the rest of the issue, handling both action and the quieter moments very well. Her take on the other characters are great as well.
And while I’m talking about the art, shout out to Taurin Clarke for making Death Ranger’s visor look like a Megazord cockpit window. Very cool!

Overall — 5 out of 5: It’s chapter 3, so you kind of have to read this one if you want the whole story. But, the great writing and great artwork make the $5 price tag worth it. And if you want a physical copy, go to Comic Shop Locator to find the nearest comic shop near you!
